The candidate work concentrated on the challenging and much debated area of Lilla Bommen by Gothenburgs city marina. As well as the present segregated and rather confused environment having its impact, future plans had to be accounted for creating many strict ramifications to the proposal…plans for a new underground train link and the proposed opera house extension as well as the expansion of the future river city all had to be considered.

Here I have proposed an amalgamation of the areas strengths. The proposal aims to enhance the urbanity of the city, tastefully complimenting the pull of northern Europe’s largest shopping arcade whilst adding the introduction of tranquil rooftop terraces and waterfront restaurants. A cascade has found its place in the new urban planning office situated in the hub of the city centre. I beleive that the area can diversify from having one large building and gain further identity from having miscellenious functions and characteristics, a place where many people may feel comfortable and welcome in attractive and sober surroundings.
