The Longhouse

Utilizing space in the urban environment is crucial.

Having been allocated a cramp and unusually stretched location in he historic city centre of Lund the challenge was to design a functional home that was light, open plan and comfortable.

Using large skylights to the north as well as highly exploited glass facades the proposition will have no lack of natural sunlight. A large open atrium will give the illusion of space and the layout is conciously arranged to provide a subtle amount of privicy, however sightlines give scope to the whole house.

Vegitation has been incorporated into the facade creating a natural screen whilst allowing light to penetrate the bedroom and bathroom. Also a small raised lawn to the rear of the house serves as a personal oasis in the urban environment.
